A narrative project.
VOICES OVER THE CITY
Voices Over The City is a visual diary of London told through many voices. Each short film entry pairs cinematic fragments of the city with original spoken word, creating a dialogue between image and language.
Tying into my overarching ethos to televise feeling, I was particular upfront in that there was no script nor brief given to collaborators, just a call to feel. The visuals became prompts for the artists to interpret and speak on by their own merit, and their voices brought their feeling to life. What began as background footage revealed its own story: London’s overlooked details, its quiet light, its fleeting moments of stillness and motion.
The series serves to expand the emotional USP of my work, with voice as the accent layer of storytelling. Each artist’s reflection ends with the phrase “the narrative, in the element”. This is a signature moment that unites the films under one emotional architecture.
Every entry is designed to feel like a diary fragment, where image and voice move in harmony. The simplicity is intentional: one shot, one feeling, one truth. Together, these entries form an ode to the city in fragments, a reminder of what happens when presence meets poetry.
